Once Upon A Time

I don't know who wrote this but they nailed it!

Once upon a time the government had a vast junk yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said , "someone may steal from it at night.."

So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job..

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?"

So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.

Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?"

So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write the reports.

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?"

So they created the following positions, a time keeper, and a payroll officer, then hired two people.

Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?"

So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $18,000 over budget, we must cutback overall cost."

So they laid off the night watchman.

NOW slowly….Let it sink in. Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter.

Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY .... During the Carter Administration?

Anybody?

Anything?

No? Didn't think so!

Bottom line. We've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency ... The reason for which not one person who reads this can remember!

Ready??

It was very simple ... And, at the time, everybody thought it very appropriate.

The Department of Energy was instituted on 8-04-1977. TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Hey, pretty efficient, huh???

AND, NOW, IT'S 2 009 -- 32 YEARS LATER -- AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS "NECESSARY" DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND, LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE!

THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, "WHAT WAS I THINKING?"

Ah, yes -- good ole bureaucracy.

And, NOW, we are going to turn the banking system, HEALTH CARE and the auto industry over to the same Government?

We have to be crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is exactly why I am a part of the 9/12 Project Network and pressing our government to address the corruption and waste in our government and ignoring essential, important issues, like Intelligence and Defense. There is so much waste in Defense relative to cost issues when contracting, another area to address, but not eliminate important Defense systems or weapons, but the costs that run up due to not paying attention to overpayments by (usually contracted civilians) corrupt contractors and those who oversee those projects.

I could go on, but I go crazy thinking about it and after two heart surgeries, one heart attack and a minor stroke, not to mention the other medical conditions that cause me to be on medications I would rather not touch. The importance of addressing big government, waste in elected politicians personal agendas and pork for their states, can not be over stated. I am proud to be a part of the "Angry Mob" referred to by both the current administration and the far left extremists.

I can feel my blood pressure going up and better end. It's time to rid Washington of most if not all current elected politicians and elect new blood, fresh minds, and those running who we have looked at very closely and scrutinize their background to ensure that we don't put in radical extremists who know nothing about governance.

Watching those who went to Washington to march against current policies that will cause more pain to our future children and grandchildren is painful. I have five granddaughters, who are just beautiful, wonderful, mostly innocent young women who are a part of the future of this Country. We must not leave them with a debt that deprives them of the American Dream that most of us are lucky enough to know, and may witness disappear.

Sorry for the ranting, it is just that important to me. This, it is one more reminder of why I am so passionate about the mission we, democrats, republicans, liberals and whoever, together are telling Washington that we matter, "We the People" who elected them to represent us demand that they keep to their oath and defend and protect our constitution.

This is really a comment that really dose, as it says above, nails it. What ever your politics are, if you disagree with what I say, I defend your right to do so. I encourage you to continue asking the important questions, I only ask that you be open minded about those of us who are against the policies of this administration, the corruption in congress, and the waste causing us to have our "Tea Parties" and discuss the future of our country.

I have yet to meet or talk to anyone in the groups I follow on the net who are violent or want bad things to happen. Moreover, those who are in favor of any violent reaction to the administration or the President will not have my or our support, as we are trying to make a difference by our voice. If you are following what is happening in Washington, you cannot deny that our voice is being heard and having an effect that is causing positive things to happen. I will try once again to end, I do apologize for my rambling, but it is OK, after all, I am an old man. Mfgjr
